Dr Nick Bassett-Smith
Nick discovered Osteopathy after seeking help for lower back pain like many others. This experience alone was enough him to draw him to Osteopathy. His love of sports and already possessing a passion for biology and anatomy, combined to help him along his journey graduating from RMIT university with a Bachelor of Health Science/Applied Science (Osteopath).
As an Osteopath, he adheres to and bases his treatment around the osteopathic principals. Seeing the body as one unit of function with self-regulating mechanisms. Our bodies structure and function are interlinked and intertwined and it is all of this that help us to express health. He brings a strong background in exercise rehab and sports training, believing an active approach to recovery is an essential ingredient for patients which is what he bases his own treatment/management around. He believes this active approach combined with patient education and promoting healthy behaviours are key to improving chronic pain and functionality.
He grew up playing high level basketball and volleyball and has since gained valuable experience within the sports industry as a sports trainer for Eltham Panthers football club and for AFL team Sydney Swans football club.
In his spare time he’ll be at the gym, playing football or basketball, hanging out with friends and playing with his dogs.
